Busy Week...

But still time to blog!

Well I'm pretty much as back as I can be!  Still in pain, reducing what I can do... but doing what I can.  I've been busy sorting the studio out - unfortunately it appears I may have to move out soon, so I will be studio-less!  I have a few options in the pipeline, there is the potential of moving into the town, or operating as a mobile photographer.. or even operating from my new lounge (when I get one!).  I'm also reviewing my products and also wedding packages, so Fierce is ALL CHANGE.

It's come as very sad news, I really didn't intend on leaving my studio so soon and I am very upset too - I don't want it to affect you, my awesome customers though!  I'll keep you updated with details of my move, details of any new premises, or details of my plans.

In the meantime, I'm going to blog a little bit more, and try to show you some of the work I've done recently, am currently doing and am revisiting for memories!  So who knows, you may see shots from your photoshoot here soon.

Last weekend I was honoured to attend the Christening of my two close friends newest born - Ellan Daisy.  What was even more of an honour was the fact they asked me to be Godmother.  Wow!  The ceremony was short and sweet, and Ellan was such a good girl.  She'd celebrated her first birthday on the Friday and was loving all the attention!  Here's a few snaps from the day.

Until my next ramblings,

Back on my feet - Just!

Still in pain.. but moving around..

My hospital treatment went kind of well, and I'm back in my part time job, and Fierce is running on Appointment Only whilst I recover.  I'm still in a lot of pain, however the sciatica has eased termendously which is a bonus!  So in order to assist rehabilitation, I'm happy to take on sittings, but walk in requests and purchases are not going to be possible.  However if you wish for a quick session, drop me an e-mail on my personal account and I'll get to the studio door as quickly as possible! (The joys of living above your place of work!)

You can contact me here: Charlotte's personal e-mail address

I'm currently in the process of setting up a little online boutique, where I can sell my one-off handcrafted items and designs, as well as funky retro and vintage finds.  It's still in it's infancy so there are no images on the website, but keep checking back as I hope to start uploading some of my creations soon!

It's a sideline I can do whilst being a little ill, and also concentrates on my love of vintage products!

I hope you're all enjoying the sunshine!  Remember: WEAR SUNSCREEN.

Some bad news.

Spinal problems are more than just a pain!

As a few of my customers may know, I have been suffering with back problems for a while - however within the past year the problems have worsened and I've been under a variety of treatments - physiotherapy, manual manipulation, MRI scans, painkillers... and it culminated in an unfortunate visit to the hospital recently.

A car accident 3 months ago further worsened my condition and I am now headstrong in a legal case with no end date in sight.  I am under the watch of an occupational therapist and have not been to my lovely little part time job since the accident.  I have been told under no circumstances must I work, and must relax with no additional strain to my back.  This means that I've not been able to drive, traveling as a passenger can be agony, walking everywhere takes twice as long as it should for a woman my age, but most importantly I cannot photograph.

This week I've been in hospital again ahead of my "key" treatment on Saturday.  Seriously, everyone - if I could photograph you all, I would.  If I could convey the pain I'm in on a daily basis, I would.  I have voicemails, e-mails and text messages mounting up on my business accounts which I cannot answer as I have no idea when I'll be back on my feet.

I am so sorry to you all.

But please, if you are wanting a FIERCE photoshoot, and do not mind waiting for my recovery period to finish, send me an e-mail and I'll contact you when I'm well. I am hoping to contact an old photographer friend to perform shoots in my studio on my behalf, but he has a full time job so this is unlikely.  However it MAY be a possibility.

Much love to you all, and wish me luck for tomorrow.

As promised...

Bump to baby - isn't she gorgeous!

So, I'll keep this short - but I just wanted to share a couple of pictures of baby Nataizya and family.  What a little beauty she already is!  And so well behaved for a newborn - I can't wait to finish the set so that Sally and Kam can finally see their images.

Until the next blog,

What BEAUTIFUL weather!

We hope you're enjoying the sunshine!

This blog is slightly later than promised - forgive me, I have a very tempremental internet connection lately, I think it's annoyed at me as I definitely make the most of it lately...

I thought I'd blog some images from a recent shoot I did for a lovely little family.  Sally and her husband were expecting a beautiful new addition, and I was honoured enough to capture them anticipating their new little girl's arrival.  Only a week or so later Sally gave birth and I cannot WAIT to meet her!

Here are a few shots from the maternity shoot, and I think it goes without saying - what a fabulous little family they really are - and what a cheeky little girl Malaika is!

In other news, I have to go into hospital on June 4th for some treatment on my back, so Fierce will be unable to operate for approximately a week.  I'll keep you informed!

New Experiences

Fresh Academy, Watford - A treat for ME!

BNTM Live - Will 2011 be better?
Last October I visited the BNTM LIVE show at Excel London.  It was a complete let-down for the cost of the ticket, with tacky market-style stalls and totally un-related stands selling psychic experiences, sweets and the like.  However, I enjoyed the catwalk show and bought a few bits and pieces from the handful of decent stalls.

One involved Fresh Academy.  Basically, they were giving away their make-over sessions, worth £100.  I paid £10 and got the session for free alongside an A5 print.  Made my appointment for a week before my birthday and thought "Why not - I deserve pampering" PLUS I can see exactly how other photographers run their studios, particularly as the makeover section of Fierce is something I'm currently developing.

Myself and the other half spent the weekend in Watford/St. Albans, so we really made the most of it.  Unfortunately the session ended up running over 2 hours late!  Which was an absolute pain, as I was on my own (My boyfriend went to see his friends!) it got a bit lonely in the make-up room!  However I was well and truly compensated for this (Thanks Fresh for the free A5) and I am eternally grateful!  I had some fabulous make-up applied, my hair was curled slightly and I was entitled to 2 outfit changes - I didn't want a full portfolio so they cut down on a lot.  More on that later.

The shoot was great - I was directed so well (I haven't a clue on how to pose!) and some of the shots I saw were lovely.  The Photographer even took a couple of test shots in my plain outfit I wore to the studio.

When it came to viewing them -  they were beautiful.  However awkward it felt standing the way I was, it works!  My photographer even roped my other half in for a couple of shots which was lovely.

In the viewing room, we whittled down the images to around 12, then fine tuned some more.  I was initially going to purchase two, alongside my two free A5 prints.  The one thing I wasn't told in my consultation was that they did a mini-er portfolio than the mini-portfolio, and had I have known this I probably would've got more "on-set" time, and a greater variety of images to choose from.  It turns out I opted for this "Actors Portfolio" and wish that I'd have got a greater range of images.  I ended up choosing the following retouched prints, I think I've got the sizes correct!:

1 - A5 - My partner and I (Portrait)
2 - A5 - A head shot in my evening dress
3 - A4 - My partner and I (Landscape)
4 - A4 - full length of me sitting in a chair in my evening dress
5 - A4 - Full length of me in my summery outfit
6 - A4 - head shot from the test images (Serious smile!)
7 - A4 - head shot from the test images (Laughing smile!)

I get a thumbnail CD with *I believe* 5 of these images on so will post these up when I get them.

Like I've said, I was a little disappointed that I didn't get a greater range, opting for 2 images from the test and only one of me in my evening dress, if I'd have known I could've got a better deal purchasing the 5 images I would've said this to start, and maybe my shoot would have made the most of some of the other backgrounds in the studio.  Never mind... the day was awesome enough!

The images I've posted were taken after the shoot in my hotel room, as a reminder of the beautiful job the make-up artist did.

I've come away with a tonne of personal confidence, and also a great deal of confidence shooting models and individuals.  The studio was amazing - totally different from what I was expecting - but it truly made use of the space they had with at least 15 different styled backdrops squeezed into little spaces.

Thank you Fresh - you've provided me with some valuable information AND pictures!
